Exciting Developments for Women

ladies-class-handcraft-timeA new trial water pump project is underway in our Women’s Literacy program, which will improve nutrition for rural families. The hand-cranked pump, which is quite simple in design, would be used to pump river water to a family or community garden. This would greatly reduce the manual labor currently involved in watering a garden, which is hauling it by hand. These water pumps would not only facilitate growing healthy vegetables—but they would help make the effort sustainable as well.

The Women’s Literacy program also has plans for the construction of a craft center, which would serve as both a clean work area for making crafts and a central place for selling them as well.
