My New Year’s Anticipation

Every year I along with millions of other people make New Year resolutions.  We look back at the year and evaluate all of our shortcomings and resolve to change.  The biggest resolution of course is to finally follow through on your last resolution.  Lose 5 pounds…ok this year it will happen.  Each year of course I only get another 5 pounds heavier.   So this year instead of looking back and admiring how much thinner I was when the last year began I choose to look at all the great and positive things the last year held.

This year started with our house being only a foundation and through the help of family and church friends we were able to build the walls, put the roof on, and finally in put in the finished floor (almost).  Heather and I were able to host a youth group from our home church, where we put roofs on orphan homes, ran children’s programs and gave out over 100 orphan packs donated through our Unique Christmas Gift program.   We ran a Vacation Bible school for over 150 rural school children, and had some awesome times in our many Friday morning orphan programs.

The truth is that as I look back on this year I could probably write a very large book detailing all the awesome things that happened over this year.   So this year I have decided to no longer make a New Year’s Resolution but instead I will anticipate with excitement all the awesome things that I will experience this year.  Jeremiah 29:11 says “I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”  God has resolved to do great things in our lives and this year I wait with anticipation to experience His resolution.  I am excited to sit down and reflect on how God has faithfully lived up to his plan for my life, and all that he resolved to do through us and this ministry this year.   Have a very happy new year.
