Mozambique Agriculture

The majority of those we work with depend on agriculture to produce the basic foods they survive on. Subsistence agriculture, the term used for this, simply means “supporting oneself at the minimum level.” The reality is that in most cases the “minimum level” for people living in absolute poverty is significantly below an acceptable nutritional level. The result is that their health and development are seriously compromised; immunity to disease is low, mental development is hindered and therefore learning is stunted. Even the energy level needed to produce more food is lacking.

Mozambique Aviation

SAM Ministries operates a Cessna 182 in Mozambique to serve our people and our work. This ministry was launched when Bob Guzak, a friend and partner of the mission, courageously took it on himself to fund raise and fly the mission aircraft 95 hours across ocean and harsh terrain from Canada to Southern Africa.

Mozambique Leadership Training

Communities trapped in the grip of poverty with few services and poor education need someone who can help them find the way out. Men and women who see the desperate needs of their people and are prepared to do something about it are the key to helping people find the way out.

Mozambique Orphan Sponsorship

Through our Amigo Orphan Program, we provide home-based assistance to orphans living with their caregiver grandmothers. This crucial help includes a monthly supply of food as well as school supplies, medicines and home improvement projects—the construction of brick homes, roofs, and latrines.

Mozambique Vocational Training

SAM Ministries has been assisting young people in Mozambique to receive vocational training at the mission or at other training institutions. The programs that have just recently been launched by the mission include a basic woodworking practicum, as well as a course in automotive maintenance and repair. Mercy Tech Mission, currently in the early stages of registering as a Canadian Charity, has come alongside us to launch the course in automotive training at the basic level. They have also undertaken to promote and help in the construction of a mechanic workshop. Our multi-purpose training facility provides the classrooms where automotive theory is taught. Giving young people a chance to be trained in the context of a love for God and commitment to His Kingdom is critical for the development of both this country and its Church.
