Women’s Literacy

Walls Up On Craft Center!

Great progress has been made on the women’s craft center as the exterior walls are now up.

Work is still underway on the interior walls.

The building will consist of a storage area, a work area for the women, and a shop for the sale of products made at the mission.

Women’s Craft Center

We rejoice that the craft center, which will be used by the women’s literacy program, is well underway in Mozambique. This building will provide a place for conducting hand crafts training for women’s program leaders, as well as house a crafts shop for the mission where hand-made items from the various programs can be sold.

The women’s literacy program has experienced tremendous growth, and the craft center will greatly facilitate the work and training of women.

The partnership with Love Mozambique South Africa (support from churches and sponsors in South Africa through Francois and Alta Rauch) has made progress on this craft center possible.

Exciting Developments For Women

ladies-class-handcraft-timeA new trial water pump project is underway in our Women’s Literacy program, which will improve nutrition for rural families. The hand-cranked pump, which is quite simple in design, would be used to pump river water to a family or community garden. This would greatly reduce the manual labor currently involved in watering a garden, which is hauling it by hand. These water pumps would not only facilitate growing healthy vegetables—but they would help make the effort sustainable as well.

The Women’s Literacy program also has plans for the construction of a craft center, which would serve as both a clean work area for making crafts and a central place for selling them as well.
